What gets reviewed
- Architecture and module structure – layering, dependencies, testability.
- Code quality across Kotlin and Java, both Compose and View-based UI.
- Technical debt: outdated libraries, deprecated APIs, target levels against Google Play requirements.
- Build pipeline and Gradle: build times, configurations, signing, reproducibility.
- Testing, CI/CD setup and the release process.
- Performance, memory usage, battery impact and startup time.
- Security and privacy: key handling, data storage, networking layer, permissions.
- Crash and stability data where Crashlytics or similar is in place.
What you get
A written report in English or Swedish with a rating per area, a prioritised action list with estimated effort per item, a risk picture for what is left untouched, and a one to two hour walkthrough with your team and decision makers. The report is written so both engineers and management can act on it.
Timeline and way of working
A health check normally takes five to ten working days from the moment I get read access to the repository. The work is done remotely from Sweden, with a short kickoff, questions to the team along the way and a closing walkthrough. No changes are made to your code during the review.
Frequently asked questions
What does an Android Health Check cost?
Pricing follows codebase size and number of apps. A single app of normal size is typically a fixed price equivalent to five to ten days of work. You get a fixed quote before the engagement starts.
Do we have to hand over the full source code?
Read access to the repository gives the best result. If that is not possible, the review can be done on site or against an exported snapshot. An NDA is always signed before access is granted.
Do you review backend and APIs as well?
Yes, to the extent the app depends on them. API design, error handling and the contract between app and backend are part of the assessment; a full backend audit is agreed separately.
What happens after the report?
You own the report and can execute the actions yourself. If you want support I can step in as architect or expert support, or run the fixes as a scoped rescue engagement.
Can you work with teams outside Sweden?
Yes. I am based in Sweden and work remotely with clients across Europe, in English, with overlapping working hours in CET.
